How does a normal healthy vagina work?

Human genitals, both male and female, are wondrous inventions. Created by the genius of nature, perfected through eons of evolution, they generate divine pleasure for their owners and precious children for the generations.

A woman’s vagina evolves throughout her lifetime. In youth, when hormone levels are low, the pH level is neutral, around 7. In adolescence and adulthood, under the influence of the hormone estrogen, vaginal pH drops to around 4, an acidic environment that promotes growth of lactobacilli, prevents growth of harmful bacteria, and protects it from infection.

During the reproductive years, the vagina must produce lubrication and stimulation for intercourse, and stretch open wide enough to deliver a full-term baby.

The light pheromones of healthy genitals act as erogenous stimulation for a sexual partner. A strong odor, however, is a symptom of imbalance to be corrected or disease to be treated.

Like all bodily orifices, the vaginas of healthy females secrete substances to flush themselves clean and prevent invasion by pathogens. These clear or milky fluids need only be rinsed off daily with Nirena, not overpowered forcibly by industrial chemicals.

The normal secretions of vaginal walls and cervical glands keep the area healthy by maintaining an acidic environment between pH 3.8 and 4.2. Organisms that thrive in this flora prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. The hardest-working component is Döderlein’s bacillus, a type of lactobacillus that transforms glycogen from sloughed epithelial cells into lactic acid.

Many factors can raise vaginal pH into the unhealthy alkaline range, inviting infections and associated redness, irritation, itching, strong odor, or unusual discharge. Antibiotics, diseases, hormonal changes, even contraceptives can disturb the delicate balance.

But the most common causes are the consumer products we introduce ourselves: synthetic clothing, dyed or perfumed laundry products and toilet papers, soaps and bubble baths, shampoos, douches, even so-called feminine hygiene sprays.

Nirena, however, contains no such alkaloids. It employs strict manufacturing practices that are controlled from batch to batch to keep vaginal pH levels in their normally acidic range, thus protecting against infections.

Smart intimate care can maintain health and prevent vaginitis. Use light cotton panties to allow breathing. Do not use laundry detergents, softeners, toilet papers, soaps, bubble baths, or shampoos that have dyes or perfumes. Do not douche. Keep fecal bacteria out of the vagina and urinary tract by wiping from front to back. Use condoms.

Wash the vaginal area daily with Nirena to maintain its naturally acidic pH balance and stay fresh.
